Everything a muscle desires. Potassium is one of the most important minerals and accounts for five percent of the bodys entire mineral metabolism. This mineral is essential for the functioning of all cells, but in particular for muscles and nerves. Being an antagonist of the mineral sodium, potassium plays a significant role in controlling the acid-base balance, the fluid balance and the blood pressure. Without these two antagonists, there would be no muscle and nerve contractions, and malfunctions may occur, which may also affect the activity of the cardiac muscle. We consume sufficient potassium with our daily wholefood diet with a very high portion of fresh food. An important fellow player of potassium is magnesium.
In case of magnesium deficiency, the cells are unable to stabilise the potassium. The basic prerequisite for sufficient potassium absorbance is that the magnesium level is sufficiently high.
Warning: No substitute for a balanced and varied diet.
