Niacin is also known as nicotinic acid, vitamin B3, or Pellagra Preventing (PP) vitamin. Since vitamins cannot be produced by the human body itself, niacin cannot be classified as one of these substances in the traditional sense. It can be absorbed from food, but also produced by the body itself. Nevertheless, niacin is counted among the group of B vitamins. Without niacin, the body cells lack the energy necessary to perform metabolic reactions. Moreover, it can have positive effects on lipid metabolism.
Warning: No substitute for a balanced and varied diet.
