A healthy psyche helps us overcome stressful situations, not to be nervous in everyday life and is also important for our physical health.

There are numerous scientific studies that examine and demonstrate the negative physical consequences of psychological stress.

Chronic stress can weaken our immune system and cause long-term illness. Stress also affects our mental health. In the worst cases, this can lead to anxiety, outbursts of anger, and emotionally uncontrollable behavior, which in turn can affect and significantly damage our closest interpersonal relationships.

As you can see, stress can not only be draining, but also a killer of your mental health. Fortunately, there is something you can do about it.

6 tips to help you live a more stress-free and healthier life :

  1. Get some sleep

    It's incredibly important to get enough sleep. Without enough sleep, even simple everyday tasks are more difficult to complete, and as the day progresses, your tiredness is likely to affect your mood. If sleep deprivation becomes more severe, it can lead to impaired thinking and, in the worst cases, even hallucinations. Don't let it get that far and get enough sleep!

  2. Healthy and balanced diet

    Nutrition plays a crucial role in your health. Unhealthy eating can lead to digestive problems and the resulting physical stress. If you eat a lot and exercise little, you can expect weight gain. This, in turn, increases your susceptibility to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and other illnesses. This fact alone can cause considerable stress, especially if your blood sugar or fat levels are elevated or if you experience physical discomfort. Your body is your everything. Eat accordingly!

  3. Exercise and sport

Your daily walk, your morning run, and your weekly bike ride all help keep your body active. Additionally, exercise releases hormones that relax you mentally. After a stressful day at work, take the time to go for a 30-minute jog or walk. You'll find that you feel more relaxed afterwards and can let go of your worries for a while.

These days, we're constantly connected to the internet. Work emails, Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp messages, and a constantly ringing cell phone make our everyday lives significantly more stressful than before. Of course, communication has become easier and maintaining contact has become simpler, but the stress-inducing effect of your constant electronic companion should not be underestimated.

Go on vacation for a week. Leave your cell phone at home or get an old push-button phone and a number where you can reach only your closest contacts in an emergency. You'll notice after just a few days how little you miss your smartphone. The first day might be a bit unusual, but after that, walks in nature, swimming trips, and sporting activities will be more relaxing than ever.
